Mencia Gomez, MD
Mencia Gomez De Vargas, MD, is an experienced adult psychiatrist at Integrated Mind Medicine.
Dr. Gomez takes a broad approach to mental illness, integrating the soul, body, and spirit. She is highly experienced in the field of trauma and specializes in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and pastoral counseling. She also provides genetic testing, remote visits (telehealth), home visits, divorce care, burn out care, and more.
Dr. Gomez graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. She completed her residency in psychiatry at the BronxCare Health System (formerly Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center) and her fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, both in New York City. She went on to earn her master’s degree in transplant psychiatry at the Universitat de Barcelona in Spain and another master’s degree in theological studies at New York Theological Seminary in New York City. Dr. Gomez is licensed to practice in New York City and Florida.
She is a member of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine and Asociación EMDR España. Dr. Gomez is affiliated with Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. In addition, she is the president of Fundación Rueda, a charity that encourages children’s creativity to transform their lives.
Dr. Gomez focuses on maintaining her patients’ trust and confidence, and her patients know her for her comprehensive and compassionate care. She welcomes new and existing patients and looks forward to establishing long-lasting relationships with them.
